About Me
I am a professional watercolor artist who has been painting for over 12 years. I find endless inspiration in the beauty of Western North Carolina, where I am fortunate to live and create. My background as a floral designer with the esteemed Biltmore Estate has shaped my eye for detail and my appreciation for nature’s delicate forms.
Beyond my work at the easel, I’m deeply involved with the Arts Council of Henderson County, and I’m passionate about supporting and uplifting fellow artists. Creativity is at the heart of everything I do—whether I’m painting in my studio or helping curate thoughtful displays at the gallery.
Art is more than my profession; it’s my way of connecting—with nature, with others, and with the stories we all carry.
The Story Behind My Signature
Every painting I create carries a small mark near my signature— either a red name block of my name or a black Japanese name block of my father-in-law, Dr. John Wood.
His is more than a symbol; it’s a piece of my heart and a tribute to a remarkable story that spans generations.
Dr. Wood was a Cornell University graduate with a degree in Ornithology—the study of birds. His life’s work led him into the field of genetics, and in 1947, he served on the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in Japan. During that time, a Japanese doctor, his colleague and friend, gifted him a custom name block—a gesture of respect and friendship in the wake of unimaginable history.
Today, that same name block is in my hands. I press it gently onto each of my original watercolor paintings. It connects me to him, to his love for birds, and to his dedication to science and understanding.
He studied birds. I paint them.
That simple black mark represents legacy, remembrance, and the way our stories—past and present—continue to soar together.
When you bring my art into your home, you are receiving more than a painting; you are holding a piece of history, a part of my family, and a glimpse into the enduring beauty of both nature and human connection.
A signature, a story—carried from my brush to your home.
